Join me on Thursday, June 12, for a full-day retreat. We’ll gather at my campsite, at the edge of the woods, in Acorn Valley Campground by Saylorville Lake in Johnston.
You’ll experience:
- A guided walk thru the woods
- Time by the lake
- Rest in hammocks
- Personal guided reflection time
- A technology-free day (turn it off or tuck that phone away on silent)
- Community with a small group of sisters in Christ [just 4 spots available]
- Campfire circle in the evening
- Healthy camp food: 2 meals, plus snacks and drinks
Like Navigate the Way guided walks, this event is a time to slow down your pace, reconnect with yourself and God, and immerse in nature’s calming, healing benefits. It’s space to rest and refuel. It’s time to calm your thoughts by being present in the moment through all of your senses, allowing you to renew your mind and gain new insights.

Retreat Details
When: Thursday, June 12, @ 8:30am – 9:00pm
Where: Acorn Valley Campground (by Saylorville Lake in Johnston)
Campsite, parking info, and what-to-bring list provided after registration.
You’ll receive:
- A full-day retreat, immersed in nature
- Two meals plus snacks and beverages
- Optional reflection materials to guide your personal time
- A journal and souvenir pen
- One Christ-centered coach, committed to creating space for your spiritual formation, soul care, and peace
NOTE: You must be able to comfortably and safely walk in the woods and by the lake on uneven ground. Distance traveled is probably not more than a mile.
Cost to Attend: This will be an offering you make at registration. Give as you feel led.

Thanks, Julie, for this great event! I loved having time to pause, reflect and be present in the moment. The guided wander through nature helped to slow the “hamster wheel.” One insight I took with me, from my personal reflections, was the vision of the hollowed-out tree that still supported large, living branches. We tend to be over-scheduled and busy, juggling many roles and responsibilities. Because of this, in my experience, most folks don’t like to give up their weekend. However, most people do enjoy a day off. If we’re going to invest in ourselves and our well-being; if we’re going to retreat, like Jesus, and spend time in quiet and solitude, it takes a commitment to do so. Plus, Thursday allows us to avoid weekend camping crowds.
We will still have the retreat. There is space, inside the camper, for 5 people around the table (though it will be cozy!) This is one of the reasons the retreat group is so small.
Meals will be simple, healthy camp foods! We’ll cook outdoors on a burner, griddle or over the fire. There will be snacks as well. While I try to accommodate food sensitivities (I’m gluten and dairy free) please feel free to bring any sort of snacks or foods that help meet your needs.
Please register only if you’re sure the date works for your schedule. However, I understand that life happens, and will provide a full refund up to two weeks before the retreat begins. After that time, a 50% refund will be provided.
